I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and registered with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors/Psychotherapists. BACP Senior Accreditation is only awarded to experienced counsellors who have fulfilled all the relevant criteria, which includes undertaking their own personal therapy. I adhere to the BACP ethical framework, which means you can be confident that I abide by a strict code of confidentiality, that I undertake regular ongoing training and that I am appropriately supervised.
I was delighted to be awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for Services to Mental Health.
I have worked for many years as Trauma Counsellor, helping people process difficult things that have happened to them or that they have witnessed. I have completed trainings in EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Trauma Focused CBT.
I am a specialist in bereavement and loss having trained with CRUSE Bereavement Care and currently offer supervision to CRUSE counsellors in the North Down area.
I m a qualified Life Coach, and often a coaching approach can be really beneficial., especially good for people who are in recovery from addiction and appreciate a co-active approach to the work so as to prevent them becoming addicted again. I have delivered life coaching for local NHS health trusts.
A coaching approach can also be effective for people who want to make changes in their lives, sometimes these are major changes such as career change or new relationship, but often it can be using coaching to improve your current personal and professional life.
